How to write a research proposal

Description
The overall aim of this workshop is to enable participants to develop and complete a proposal for a feasible and well-planned research project.. The course will be taught by Prof. Sandy Gifford, Swinburne Institute for Social Research and Assoc. Prof. Karen Farquharson, Faculty of Health, Arts and Design at Swinburne Melbourne.
At the end of the series of workshops, participants will have:
- Gained an understanding of what the elements of the research proposal
- Completed a research proposal that includes:
- A research design,
- Research questions(s),
- A description of the research methodological approach,
- A proposed timeline for completion
The specific content includes:
- What is a research proposal and why do you need one?
- The literature review in the proposal
- Developing your research question(s)
- The research approach, including the methodology and methods
- The relationship between the approach and the research question
- Proposed data analysis
- Logistical and ethical considerations
Participants are required to write a 300-400 word abstract of their proposal and prepare a 10 minute presentation.
