Swinburne Sarawak Civil Engineering senior lecturer Dr Daniel Looi collaborated with The University of Hong Kong to author and publish a guidebook internationally. The guidebook aims to educate the construction industry in Hong Kong, China and beyond on utilizing post-installed reinforcement technology in concrete-to-concrete connection.
The project was funded partially by Hilti Corporation at Liechtenstein, a global construction technology specialist.
The book received recommendations from renowned structural engineering researchers. “This is an excellent guide to the design, installation, and assessment of post-installed reinforcements, written by Ray K. L. Su, Daniel T. W. Looi, and Yanlong Zhang, who have significant expertise in designing concrete structures. As the number of ageing concrete properties in Hong Kong and demands for sustainable built environments worldwide are both increasing, this book offers invaluable and practical guidance on refurbishment and repairs,” said Professor Dennis Lam, from the University of Bradford.
Professor Scott Smith from the University of Adelaide added, “The timely release of this publication provides comprehensive guidance on the design, installation, and assessment of post-installed reinforcement in concrete construction. Stakeholders benefitted include designers and engineering students, as well as the construction industry in general. The authors are to be commended for producing such an excellently written and extremely valuable resource for the sector.”
