School of ICT (SoICT) Swinburne Sarawak together with Cisco hosted a public webinar on 16 July 2020, exploring the current technological trends in the Internet of Things (IOT) world today. Prof Patrick Then, Head of SoICT started the webinar by introducing programs and facilities that SoICT Swinburne offers that can help students pursue a career in IOT, networking and cloud computing. This was followed by Dr. Mark Tee a lecturer at Swinburne who showcased some of student’s projects where they have real-life hands on experience developing IOT solutions. Next, the first external speaker, Muhammad Ezra Bin Muhammad Ismail, a lecturer from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL) shared the usage of Cisco’s IOT technology applications and its focus on connectivity, security, management and application enablement. The next external speaker was Herfiedhantya Bhagaskara the technical manager for Cisco Network Academy for ASEAN region. Herfiedhantya touched API and ecosystem powered by Meraki. Meraki is a solution provided by Cisco that is used by companies for unified management of mobile devices, Macs, PCs, and the entire network from a centralized dashboard. Last but not least, Adri Guatama, the country manager of Cisco Networking Academy enlightened participants on Cisco Data Center’s importance and role for automation, multi-cloud and security.
