As an open space laboratory, it is used by our Civil and Mechanical engineering students to study of the impact of water jet, losses in pipe fittings, Boyle’s Law and to compute Reynold’s Number, among others.
Using real industrial equipment, the robotics laboratory is equipped with modern industrial robots, providing students with up-to-date knowledge and hands-on experience on robotic systems.
Located within the robotic laboratory, the robotic arm has multi-axes controllers that allow them to be integrated into the automation cells along with other industrial equipment.
The Thermal Science laboratory is completed with equipment such as the plate-tube heat-exchanger and thermal conduction heat transfer unit. These allow students to perform experiments on the different mechanisms of heat transfer and to further understand and appreciate the theories relating to thermal sciences.
The Control and Instrumentation laboratory is dedicated for the study of sensors, actuators and control systems and is equipped with an assortment of sensors, servo motors and switches which can be connected to a dedicated computerized training system.
This laboratory is equipped with Asphalt Centrifuge Extractor, Automatic Marshall Compactor, Compression Tester 2000kN, Concrete Mixer – Drum type 140L, Concrete Slump Apparatus, Digital Control Heated Oven UD-3F, Electric Weigh Balance SQW6 (UTS), Flexure Machine 150kN, Motorized Concrete Mould Shaker, Motorized Test Sieve Shaker T1, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Tester, Design of Concrete Structures (HES2125), Concrete Mixing, Compressive strength test and three-points flexural test.
The machine workshop provides support for the fabrication of simple components and specimens required for experiments and student projects. In this workshop, students in Civil, Mechanical, Robotic and Mechatronics engineering will learn to handle and the basic lathe, milling machine, pedestal drill, hand tools, welding set, grinding and polishing machine, etc during the course of their study.
