Pay nothing for 10 weeks to start Swinburne Foundation studies this October

KUCHING  With the Study Now, Pay Later (SNPL) scheme, prospective students keen to earn an Australian education at Swinburne Sarawak have the opportunity to pay nothing for 10 weeks when they start their Foundation classes this 4 October.

Applicable for domestic and international students, the 10 weeks of free trial classes are an initiative by the university to allow students to adapt to its blended learning mode of online and face-to-face classes. Swinburne has almost a decade of experience in online learning where it offers flexibility for students to learn and engage at any time or place. At present, Swinburne uses learning management system CANVAS, one of the world’s leading system also adopted by other renowned universities such as Harvard, Stanford and Yale.

Swinburne’s School of Foundation Studies offers Foundation programmes in business, design, engineering/science, and information technology/multimedia. The Foundation programmes are a one-year pre-university preparatory course that provides direct pathway to undergraduate studies in various disciplines.

For students interested in business studies, they would be pleased to know that Swinburne’s AACSB International accreditation places it among only five percent of the world’s business schools. The Swinburne Foundation Studies (Business) can lead to a bachelor’s degree majoring in accounting, finance, accounting and finance, human resource management, international business, management, management and digital media, or marketing.

Meanwhile, those keen to undertake the Swinburne Foundation Studies (Design) will have the opportunity to hone their digital literacy skills at the first and only Adobe Creative Campus in Malaysia, among an exclusive group of only 20 universities worldwide to achieve such status. The Foundation studies can lead to a bachelor’s degree in multimedia design or majoring in graphic design.

On the other hand, students who are interested to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, environmental science, or engineering (civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical and electronic, and robotics and mechatronics) can opt to enrol in the Swinburne Foundation Studies (Engineering/Science). Swinburne’s engineering degree courses are recognised under the Washington Accord and professionally accredited by Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Malaysia and Engineers Australia (EA).

Swinburne Foundation Studies (Information Technology/Multimedia) prepares students for a bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) majoring in cybersecurity, Internet of Things, software development, data science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), network technology, or software technology. The programmes are professionally accredited by Australian Computer Society (ACS) and Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT).

Prospective students who meet the academic requirements are automatically eligible to apply for scholarships or bursaries offered by the university, State government or government-linked agencies. In addition, with Swinburne’s Easy Payment Plan, students can pay their tuition fees over 10 interest-free instalments.

Sarawakian Bumiputera students in particular, can take advantage of the BP40 Bursary Scheme offered by Yayasan Sarawak to Bumiputera students of Sarawak origin from low and middle income (B40 and M40) family background. With the scheme, the total fee for a one-year Foundation programme is as low as RM5,446.
