Engineers Australia (EA)

Engineers Australia (EA)

Engineers Australia (EA) is the professional engineering bodies in Australia governing engineering registration, professional practice and accreditation and recognition of engineering education.  It exists to advance the science and practice of engineering for the benefit of the community.  Engineers Australia is the trusted accreditation authority for tertiary engineering education in Australia and overseas. EA is also the statutory member of Washington Accord under the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) that mutually recognize engineering degree of its member countries.

Engineers Australia contributes to the assurance of many engineering education programs by providing professional accreditation services ensuring the engineering education programs are designed to prepare graduates for entry to professional practice, and to provide the academic preparation for progression to Registration and Chartered, at the levels of Engineering Associate, Engineering Technologist and Professional Engineer.

Accreditation provides assurance that a program is suitably designed and delivered to prepare graduates for entry to professional practice in a specified field of engineering practice. This is done in an international context, and alongside academic accreditation; both constrain the scope of accreditation and how it is implemented.
