Swinburne Sarawak’s final year design students showcase creative works at GradX

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ School of Design and Arts has celebrated another remarkable milestone, with its final year students from Multimedia Design, Graphic Design as well as Management and Digital Media coming together to exhibit their creative works at GradX on 16 and 17 June 2023.

GradX, short for ‘graduate final year exhibition’, signifies the culmination of students’ academic journeys as they transition into the professional world.

The design exhibition aims to provide students with a platform to kickstart their careers, showcasing their industry-standard work in addition to their extraordinary talents and capabilities while aspiring to capture the attention of potential employers and the wider community.

Swinburne Sarawak Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Ir Professor Lau Hieng Ho extended his gratitude to Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC), Impact Design, Carus Group of Companies and Swinburne Innovation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SWIM) for their continuous support.

The creative outcomes from the collaborations with industry were exhibited in GradX. These included packaging designs, interactive applications, digital games, animations, illustrations and concepts.

During the GradX launching event, Swinburne Sarawak’s School of Design and Arts also announced the introduction of the university’s new Diploma of Digital Media Design course, which is set to commence in September 2023.

Swinburne Sarawak’s Diploma of Digital Media Design prepares students to be media professionals for the world’s digital future. It aims to equip students with hands-on digital media design skills and knowledge required by the creative industries for new media and technologies, digital games and interactive applications. Students will spend 2.5 years honing their design skills to meet the rising demand for skilled digital media designers, or continue to pursue a Bachelor of Design with Swinburne Sarawak.

“At our institution, we believe learning should be an enjoyable experience. Therefore, we have developed this course with a strong focus on practical learning and industry collaboration through our Work Integrated Learning,” said Professor Lau.
