Discover Swinburne Sarawak at its Open Day on 2 December

KUCHING – High school leavers seeking to further their studies can visit Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Open Day this Saturday, 2 December 2023, to explore the university’s globally-ranked programs and catch Yayasan Sarawak’s exclusive talk on scholarships and study loans.

The Open Day will be held from 10am to 4pm at the university campus along Jalan Simpang Tiga and it is open to all members of the public. Students and parents should seize this valuable opportunity to explore Swinburne Sarawak, the next gen_uni, up close and in person.

At the Open Day, visitors will be able to meet one-on-one with the university’s education counsellors and academics to gain insights into the wide array of courses available at the university – from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media and education.

Apart from courses, they will also be able to seek advice on many other aspects of higher education, including study pathways, scholarships, industry placements, facilities, accommodation, student life and more.

Prospective students and parents who visit the Open Day can tune in to an informative talk session on scholarships and study loans delivered by Yayasan Sarawak at 12pm. With regard to scholarships and financial aid, visitors will have the chance to explore internal merit scholarships offered by the university at different levels of study in addition to those offered by external providers such as Yayasan Sarawak.

They can also join the university’s experiential talk sessions on Early Childhood Education titled ‘Journey Within: Exploring Self and Early Childhood Education’ at either 10.30am or 11am to gain a better understanding of this field of study. The sessions are exclusive to 15 persons per session on a first come first served basis and online registration at https://bit.ly/ECERegistration is required.

This year, the university launched its Diploma of Early Childhood Education, which provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills to nurture young children’s physical, cognitive and social-emotional developments.

Another exciting highlight of the Open Day event is the opportunity to get a taste of the vibrant student experience at Swinburne Sarawak by connecting with current students and taking guided tours of the campus. As part of these tours, visitors can view the highly anticipated upgrades being carried out with the aim of enhancing the campus experience and providing students with a world-class teaching and learning environment. Visitors will be among the first to catch a glimpse of the newly opened Student Hub.

Once students have decided on their preferred course, they can proceed to apply on the spot at the Open Day. Eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. To facilitate the application process, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).

Visitors can also score exclusive merchandise at the Open Day. In addition, they will be able to enjoy treats from vendors such as Three Tea, Vanilla Apong and Kopi Hainan.
