KUCHING – Members of the public are invited to a knowledge sharing session at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus on 12 June.
The 2:30pm to 4:30pm session, entitled “Are you paid your worth?”, will be conducted by Lily Dublin from the university’s Faculty of Business and Design.
Besides wages, she will discuss other issues including staff training and development, employee wellbeing, performance appraisal as well as employee recruitment and retention.
The talk is also designed to meet the needs of wage and salary administration and human resource managers who impact or influence the administration and delivery of wage and salary in organisations.
“We will explore the fundamental concept of wage payment and the role of wages at an enterprise level and from the perspectives of the employee,” said Lily, who has specialised in human resource management in the last three decades.
“Wage pressures for the employer and what it means for the employee whose job could be at risk when there is a demand for higher wages are other areas we will look into,” she said.
“It will be an exciting session as these are issues of interest to employers and employees alike. I look forward to interacting with the audience and I hope that at the end of the session, the understanding of wage payment will help to enhance the overall functions and credibility of wage and salary managers.”
Lily has a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management from the University of Hull, England. Prior to joining Swinburne Sarawak, she spent more than 30 years as a human resources practitioner managing two multinational corporations and two government-linked companies.
She currently serves on the SOCSO Board of Appeal and was a panel member of the Industrial Court.
