Forty-seven paplets were donated to the students and staff at SK Pelaman Sidunuk, Padawan in March just before the Movement Control Order took place.

Teacher Madam Ubok Baya had participated in a Next 100 Workshop for English teachers, organised by Swinburne Sarawak and the Wildlife Conservation Society in October 2019, and had received a paplet as a souvenir to demonstrate how recycling paper could be put to good use among students and teachers who are always in need of writing paper.

Since 2018, and before the MCO, Swinburne Sarawak Green Club students have met on a regular basis during the semester and in between semesters to collect paper used on one side to create them into notebooks called “paplets” to be donated to needy students and NGOs.

So far, in the first semester of this year, paplets have been sold at the Green Club’s booth at the Swinburne Sarawak Inter-School Debating Championship, given out to SSIDC volunteers at the Volunteers’ Appreciation Dinner as well as to SK Pelaman Sedunuk.

With the RMCO and re-opening of schools, the Green Club hopes to continue efforts to craft and donate paplets to needy communities.
