Discover a world of opportunities at Swinburne Open Day on 25 May

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ upcoming Open Day this Saturday, 25 May 2024, is a prime opportunity for students to explore the Australian university up close and in person – from globally-ranked programs to scholarships and more.

The event will be held from 10am to 4pm at the university’s campus located along Jalan Simpang Tiga, and it is open to all members of the public.

At Swinburne Sarawak, students can pursue a world-class Australian education at just a fraction of the cost. Swinburne Sarawak’s programs are undifferentiated from its home campus in Melbourne in terms of curriculum and learning outcomes, earning students the same testamurs and qualifications as their Australian peers.

The next-generation university offers a diverse range of courses, state-of-the-art facilities, Work Integrated Learning, a vibrant student experience, flexible exchange and transfer options and much more.

Students and parents visiting the Open Day will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the university’s education counsellors and academic experts to learn more about programs in various fields of study – from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts as well as media and education.

Aside from courses, visitors can explore scholarships and financial aid options, including internal merit scholarships offered by Swinburne Sarawak at different levels of study in addition to those offered by external providers. Yayasan Sarawak and Sarawak Energy Berhad will be present at the event to offer consultations on scholarships and financial assistance.

The Open Day event will also feature exclusive talk sessions by representatives from Yayasan Sarawak and Sarawak Energy Berhad, on the topics of “Study Loans, Scholarships, Bursaries and Financial Aid” and “Scholarship and Internship Opportunities” respectively.

Furthermore, students and parents can gain a better understanding of study options by tuning in to pathway talks delivered by the university’s academics. An industry speaker, Mr Tan Wae Leng, Managing Partner at Chengco LLP, will also be presenting an informative talk session titled “Balancing the Book: Unveiling the Strategic Role of Accounting” – offering valuable insights into the field of accounting.

During the Open Day, prospective students will be able to get a feel for life as a Swinburne Sarawak student by taking guided tours of the campus while connecting with current students and the Swinburne community.

In addition to exploring the university’s existing facilities, visitors can preview the highly anticipated campus upgrades. The comprehensive infrastructure upgrades initiated in 2019 are aimed at enhancing the campus experience and providing students with a world-class teaching and learning environment.

Swinburne Sarawak will be receiving on-the-spot applications at the Open Day. Eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. To facilitate the application process, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).
