Master of Construction Management program to start in August

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will commence its Master of Construction Management program on 22 August.

The postgraduate degree facilitates the study of advanced management and engineering techniques in construction, building and maintenance to prepare graduates for roles in the management of people, equipment, materials, technological processes and funds in construction, building and maintenance of buildings as well as assets in civil infrastructure.

Among others, graduates of the program will be equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in construction management practices that are related to design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings and civil infrastructure.

They will be trained to plan and execute an independent research project in a relevant construction management topic, manage practical issues or complex problems and describing/developing contemporary and sustainable construction management trends and best practices.

“As a result of the skills and knowledge they could gain from the program, graduates of the course will be able to contribute more effectively in a variety of roles in the industry,” said Associate Professor Dennis Wong, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science.

Wong added that the program emphasises a high level of autonomy, accountability, credibility, ethics, and responsibility for work outputs.

Those interested to take up the program should have a recognised bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, building, architecture, quantity surveying, construction management, real estate and other related engineering, technology disciplines, or other equivalent qualification, he said.
