Mid-year intake now opens at Swinburne for all levels of study

KUCHING – Whether prospective students are just starting out, pursuing the next level of their tertiary education or upskilling for career advancement purposes, Swinburne August 2021 intake is now open for enrolment into its foundation, diploma, degree, and master programmes.

Swinburne prides itself on being the next generation university that connects students to their new future, where people and technology work together to build a better world. Riding on its strategic plan aptly named Swinburne Horizon 2025, the university commits to building an institution of higher learning that is truly of technology, of innovation, and of entrepreneurship.

Realising this critical need to produce the human talent required for a digital and tech-rich future, Swinburne’s business, engineering, computing, design, and science programmes are designed to include work-integrated units that emphasize on experiential learning. The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) approach in the form of placements, internships or industry-linked projects empowers students with the confidence, skills, real industry experience, and other attributes that are crucial for their entry into the workplace.

Swinburne’s programmes are recognised and accredited by many professional bodies such as Engineers Australia, Australian Computer Society, CPA Australia, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Furthermore, the programmes’ curriculum and learning outcomes are undifferentiated from its main campus in Melbourne, Australia, and as a result, students from the Sarawak campus are awarded the same testamurs and qualifications as their Australian peers.

Swinburne offers the one-year Foundation programmes in business, engineering/science and information technology/multimedia that provide direct opportunity for students to progress into Bachelor’s degree level. Upon successful completion, they can choose to enrol into their preferred degree courses such as accounting, finance, management and digital media, biotechnology, environmental science, civil engineering, robotics and mechatronics engineering, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, multimedia design, graphic design or other courses of their choice.

Meanwhile, students who prefer to pursue the 2.5-year Diploma of Business Management can immediately find employment in any industry after completing their studies or continue to Bachelor’s degree level. On the other hand, for individuals or working adults who are keen to re-skill and up-skill to remain competitive and relevant in the workplace, they have the options to pursue the Master of Arts (TESOL), Master of Construction Management or Master of Information Technology. All classes are expected to commence on 30 August 2021.

Prospective students who meet the academic requirements are automatically eligible to apply for scholarships or bursaries offered by the State government or government-linked agencies. Sarawakian Bumiputera students in particular, can take advantage of the BP40 Bursary Scheme offered to Bumiputera students of Sarawak origin from low and middle income (B40 and M40) family background.
