KUCHING – Ir Dr How Bing Shen, Chemical Engineering Discipline Leader and Senior Lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, has recently been accorded the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan (SCEJ) Award for Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer.
Every year, SCEJ awards the SCEJ Award for Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer to four Asian researchers and engineers who have possessed the exceptional vision, achievement and knowledge to inspire others to succeed and to contribute to the chemical engineering society and community.
Earlier this year, SCEJ announced the recipients for the 2022 cycle. As one of the researchers to receive this honourable award, Dr How was awarded for his breakthrough in biomass supply chain and circular economy that resulted in his outstanding success and contribution to the society.
The other recipients were Associate Professor Liu Cheng-Liang from National Taiwan University in Taiwan, Professor Jeong Woo Han from Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea and Professor Wei Wei from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in China.
Dr How received his award at an award ceremony held during the International Chemical Engineering Symposia (IChES) 2023 from 15 to 17 March 2023 at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan.
He was also invited to deliver a keynote speech entitled ‘Exploring n-best solution space for a heat recovery problem using graph theoretic approach’ at IChES 2023.
“It’s an honour to receive this high esteem from SCEJ despite being a young researcher. I would like to express my appreciation to Swinburne for all the support given, especially in providing substantial freedom and a healthy environment to grow my research career,” said Dr How.
