Swinburne Sarawak to hold Info Day this Saturday

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will be holding its Info Day from 10am to 5pm this Saturday (23 July, 2011).

The event is an opportunity for SPM and STPM school leavers looking to pursue tertiary education to enquire about and apply for the program of their choice as well as learn to more about the university.

Swinburne Sarawak, one of only eight elite universities awarded self-accrediting status by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and rated Tier: 5 Excellent status category in the 2009 MQA Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (SETARA ’09), offers a range of programs in engineering, commerce/business, science, computing and design from foundation to postgraduate levels.

These programs are identical to those of its home campus in Melbourne, from which qualifications are also awarded.

Classes for foundation and diploma programs at Swinburne Sarawak start on 15 August, while those for degree programs will begin on 5 September.

Intake for its master of management program is 22 August.

On Info Day students and their parents will be able to consult academics from the university’s three schools – Language and Foundation; Engineering, Computing and Science; and Business
and Design – on programs, entry requirements, career prospects, program application and the like.

To help parents and their university-going children make better decision on the choice of study, senior lecturers of each school will present an overview of the program from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, and from 2:30pm to 4:00 pm.

As students who meet the entry requirement of their chosen program will be offered a place at Swinburne Sarawak on the day, they are advised to have with them their SPM, STPM or equivalent results as well as identity card.

For all applications made on the day, no processing fee will be charged.

A quick aptitude test helps guide students who are undecided on their career path. The result of the test enables counsellors to help guide students on a choice of programs that may suit their interests.

A Yayasan Sarawak booth will entertain inquiries on study loans and scholarships, while student-conducted campus tours will take visitors through the university’s range of facilities and services available to Swinburne Sarawak students.
