Swinburne signs international MoU with Universitas Widya Dharma Pontianak

KUCHING  A recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Swinburne Sarawak and Universitas Widya Dharma Pontianak (UWDP) to foster mutual understanding in student and staff research and educational programmes.

During the virtual signing ceremony, the signatories were represented by Swinburne Sarawak Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Ir. Professor Lau Hieng Ho while UWDP’s counterpart was Rector Dr. Hadi Santoso.

The partnership between the two universities will allow Swinburne and UWDP to work further in the areas of academic programme collaborations, including credit transfer arrangements and the mobility of students between both parties.

In an effort to enhance cooperation in research and education under a joint supervision agreement, the arrangement will also look into research collaborations with the enrolment of UWDP academics into Swinburne’s PhD programmes, and any other areas of research and development in disciplines of mutual interest.

While taking the chance to wish Indonesia a ‘Happy Independence Day’ during his welcoming speech, Professor Lau expressed his appreciation of the partnership which underlines Swinburne’s 2025 Strategic Plan for Swinburne to step up to the global stage, in research, and education delivery where Swinburne will be the prototype of a new model of the university.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in making this collaboration possible, I look forward to seeing the aspirations of both Swinburne and UWDP become a reality,” said Professor Lau.
