Swinburne soars into top 25 in Young University Rankings

Swinburne University of Technology has soared 19 places to number 24 in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024, becoming the top-ranked Victorian university.

The result builds on Swinburne’s position as one of the world’s top 50 young universities, lifting us into the top 25 for the first time.

Among Australian universities, Swinburne is one the strongest movers in the rankings, climbing from 43rd position in 2023 and 50th place in 2022.

The latest ranking success follows Swinburne’s success in other university metrics, including our top 250 result in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and our top 300 result in the QS World University Rankings 2024.

Swinburne’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pascale Quester, said the ranking confirms Swinburne’s reputation as a young university rising on the global stage.

“This result cements Swinburne’s standing as a world-class university with a vision to bring people and technology together to build a better world,” Professor Quester said.

“At Swinburne, we are bold, imaginative and distinctive in our pursuit of global best practice. And while our success extends far beyond traditional university rankings, we are extremely proud of our strong performance.”

“Swinburne does university differently, our continued rise is a testament to the work of our staff and students, who are answering some of the world’s greatest questions today.”
