Visit Swinburne Sarawak’s Open Day events in multiple cities on 3 and 4 August

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will be holding Open Day events in Kuching, Bintulu, Sarikei, Miri and Sibu this weekend, allowing prospective students to explore pursuing a world-class Australian education at a fraction of the cost.

The Open Day in Kuching will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 3 August 2024, at the university’s campus located along Jalan Simpang Tiga. Also happening on Saturday, 3 August 2024, from 11am to 4pm, are the Open Day events in Bintulu and Sarikei. The Bintulu Open Day will be held at NU Hotel while the Sarikei Open Day will be held at Coffee Code.

Following these, Swinburne Sarawak will be holding its Open Day at Imperial Hotel in Miri and Tanahmas Hotel in Sibu on Sunday, 4 August 2024, with both events taking place from 11am to 4pm.

Open to all members of the public, the Open Day events are especially aimed at SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC school leavers seeking to further their studies.

Swinburne Sarawak’s Open Day events provide an excellent avenue for visitors to discover all that the next-generation university offers, from globally-ranked courses to modern facilities, scholarships, Work Integrated Learning, flexible exchange and transfer options, a vibrant student experience and much more.

At the Open Day events, students and parents can engage in personalised course counselling with the university’s education counsellors and academic experts. This will provide a better understanding of the university’s diverse program offerings, from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts as well as media and education; allowing students and parents to make a well-informed decision.

Swinburne Sarawak’s programs are undifferentiated from its home campus in Melbourne in terms of curriculum and learning outcomes, earning students the same testamurs and qualifications as their Australian peers.

Apart from courses, visitors to the Open Day events will have the opportunity to explore the various scholarships, bursaries and financial aid options provided by the university at different levels of study, in addition to those offered by external providers.

At the Kuching Open Day, students and parents can also tune into exclusive talks by Yayasan Sarawak on scholarships, study loans and financial aid. Yayasan Sarawak will also be present at the event to provide one-on-one consultations on scholarships and financial aid.

Prospective students can also find out more about the English Enhancement Program (EEP), a specially designed four-week program fully sponsored by Yayasan Sarawak and available to all Sarawakian students who meet the entry requirements. Through the EEP, students can hone their English language proficiency while ensuring a smooth transition into university life.

On top of paying zero tuition fees for the EEP, students who enrol in the program can enjoy free on-campus accommodation for the duration of the program and a one-off allowance of RM300. Upon completing the EEP, students can articulate into a foundation, diploma or degree program at Swinburne Sarawak.

By visiting the on-campus Open Day in Kuching, prospective students can fully experience Swinburne Sarawak first-hand by taking guided campus tours while connecting with current students and the Swinburne community.

Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the campus’ upgraded facilities, including the Borneo Atrium, Student Hub, The Junction, Student Village and Food Hall. These newly completed comprehensive infrastructure upgrades are aligned with Swinburne Sarawak’s commitment to enhancing the campus experience for students and providing a world-class teaching and learning environment.

Swinburne Sarawak will be accepting on-the-spot applications at all its Open Day events. Eligible students applying for admission at the Kuching Open Day will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day, while those at any of the off-campus Open Day events will receive a Letter of Eligibility. To facilitate the application process, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).

The upcoming intake for Swinburne Sarawak’s foundation, diploma and degree programs is scheduled for 2 September 2024. The next EEP intake falls on 19 August 2024, allowing students to progress into the subsequent foundation intake on 30 September 2024.
