Biography

Dr. Tay received his BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Monash University, in 2008, and his PhD degree from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, in 2013. He holds a PhD in Engineering with a research title: Sliding mode learning control for complex systems with dynamic fuzzy models.

His ability to engage in innovative development has been clearly demonstrated in his findings through publication in journals and conferences in this area. He gained and developed in-depth knowledge and expertise through convening and teaching various undergraduate subjects such as control engineering, electrical actuators & sensors, digital electronic design, and robotic control.

He contributed various improvements to the university for teaching and learning and monitored the mechatronics student’s industrial placement progress. He joined Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak, as an Associate Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Science in September 2013, and was subsequently promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2021.

His research interests are in the areas of intelligent control system, dynamical fuzzy modelling of complex system, smart farming, plant disease detection, and application of wireless path loss modelling.
