Irene graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Language Studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and obtained a Master of Business Administration (International) from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak).
Prior to joining Swinburne Sarawak, Irene was a Temporary Teacher teaching lower secondary students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kuching High and Part-time Tutor teaching primary students at Pertama Tuition Centre, Kuching.
In 2012, she started her career in the higher education sector as an Intern with the Faculty of Language and Communication (FLC) at Swinburne Sarawak. After the internship, she continued teaching units under the Swinburne Foundation Studies course suite; namely Academic and Communication Skills Part A and Moral Studies. She stayed on with the faculty for another two years before joining the Policy, Planning and Quality (PPQ) Unit in 2015. She is currently the Assistant Manager at the unit and her roles include coordination and management of the university’s internal quality assurance system, compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), external accreditation through government quality rating instruments (e.g. SETARA), liaison with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), self-accreditation status and audits, as well as supporting the academic units in professional accreditation and external audits.
Irene is also a certified Trainer under Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) Malaysia.
