Welcome to School of Information & Communication Technologies at Swinburne Sarawak. Academics in School of ICT have aspired to make our School as the preferred choice of ICT School for undergraduate study in Borneo and South-east Asia region. Our undergraduate programs have always been empowered by the state-of-the-arts technologies from industry and accredited by Australian Computer Society (ACS). More than 50% of our teaching staff are Certified Tester, Foundation Level (CTFL) by ISTQB Germany, and qualified trainer certified by PSMB under Train-The-Trainer program. Our academics are Certified Professionals by ACS. This signifies our academics qualifications are firmly recognized by ACS. Our academics are also knowledgeable in educating and training future-learner with skillsets in artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchains, cloud computing, data science, and robotics technology.
We are recognized CISCO Academy with investment of more than RM500K in CISCO lab technologies. We are also Cloudera Academic Partner (CAP) with our most demanding undergraduate’s Big Data Analytics suite. Students are also taught with the latest mobile SDKs from Android and iOS. Internet of Things (IoT) have been embedded into our courses from Year 1 to final year to expose students to the latest IoT technologies. System Administration skillsets are taught through our courses with Red Hat, VMware, and Hyper-V. From Foundation to Bachelor, students are well-trained with various programming languages such as Python, C, C#, C++, Java, and assembly language. Our cutting-edge cybersecurity lab is underway with more than RM500K investment.
In partnership with industry partners, we are conducting cutting-edge research and development while developing young talents at the level of Master and PhD. In the last 10 years, our research has consistently been funded by government agencies and private entities. Research outputs and outcomes have been published in international arena in the form of intellectual property such as patents and copyright, journals, proceedings and books. Some of our publications are ranked at the top 1% in Computer Science field. Our research has been funded by industry and government at not less than RM200K annually in average.
Our team is committed in engaging community. Our yearly Science Technology Engineering & Mathematic (STEM) workshops have been running since the past six years for secondary schools in Sarawak. These workshops have attracted interest from overseas high schools. Our hallmark outreach has been the Big Day-In Sarawak conference on 16th July 2017 that attracted more than 500 students from more than 15 secondary schools in Kuching. This conference was graced by The Right Honorable Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. It is worth noting that the whole conference was run by undergraduate student volunteers.
