Discover opportunities and exclusive talks at Swinburne Sarawak’s Open Day on 26 April

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus welcomes prospective students and parents to its Open Day on 26 April 2025, where they can explore the Australian university’s diverse programs, scholarship options, and dynamic campus experience.

The Open Day will be held from 10am to 4pm at Swinburne Sarawak’s campus along Jalan Simpang Tiga. It is open to all members of the public, especially SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level, and UEC school-leavers seeking to pursue an affordable Australian tertiary education closer to home.

The event provides students and parents the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the university’s education counsellors and academic experts to gain insights into study pathways, programs, scholarships, and more.  They can discover what makes studying at Swinburne Sarawak a unique experience – from modern facilities and Work Integrated Learning to flexible exchange and transfer options, and a well-rounded student experience.

Visitors can explore the university’s program offerings across various fields of study, including business, computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media, and education. By gaining a better understanding of the available programs, students will be better equipped to choose a path that suits their interests, strengths, and career aspirations.

In line with the growing demands of today’s digital landscape, the next-generation university has recently launched two new programs – the Bachelor of Cyber Security and the Bachelor of Data Science. Students can enquire more about these new programs, which are designed to equip the next generation of leaders with skills to drive the digital transformation of Sarawak and beyond.

To support students on their academic journey, Swinburne Sarawak provides a variety of scholarships and financial aid options. These include merit-based awards from the university and funding from external partners, opening doors for aspiring learners from all backgrounds.

Representatives from Yayasan Sarawak will be present at the Open Day to provide consultations on scholarships, financial aid programs, and loans. Students and parents can find out more about Yayasan Sarawak’s initiatives, including the BP40 Bursary Scheme and English Enhancement Program (EEP). Through the BP40 Bursary Scheme, Sarawakian Bumiputera students can study at Swinburne Sarawak with tuition fees as affordable as those at public universities in Malaysia. As for the EEP, all Sarawakian students who meet the entry requirements can benefit from this four-week program at no cost, enhancing their English language skills while getting a taste of university life.

Students and parents can look forward to an informative talk by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) on their scholarship and internship programs, as well as a sharing session by a Swinburne Sarawak alum and former SEB scholar. They can also connect directly with representatives from SEB to learn more about their scholarship program.

At the Open Day, prospective students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant student life at Swinburne Sarawak by connecting with current students and exploring the campus through guided tours. These tours allow visitors to experience the university’s recently upgraded facilities, including the Borneo Atrium, Student Hub, Student Village, and Food Hall. These upgrades reflect the university’s commitment to providing a world-class teaching and learning environment that supports both academic excellence and student wellbeing.

Swinburne Sarawak will be accepting on-the-spot applications at the Open Day, and eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. For application purposes, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level, and so on).
