Orientation for July Foundation Students
The Head of School and course coordinators of the School of Foundation Studies recently welcomed July intake students. After introducing her team and briefing the new students on the operation of the School and the various academic support available, SoFS head Su Sueh Ing invited them to participate in check-in surveys and end of semester surveys as a way to share their learning experience and offer suggestions.
Sueh Ing commented that it was important for students to work with SoFS staff in their Swinburne journey, and encouraged the students to enrich their university life by joining clubs and taking part in student activities.
Apart from advising students to observe the correct study planner, access to Canvas, MS Teams and CNS Student Portal were the topics of course coordinators Shella Georgina Beatrice and Hephi Liauw.
“Do not miss your tutorial classes, do not do things at the last minute, feedback from lecturers are important, do not be shy to email and interact with your lecturers,” were the advice of current foundation in Engineering/Science student ambassador, Syed Imdadul Islam Topu. The Bangladesh national also disclosed that he initially had some challenges with online learning but overcame them with the help of lecturers.
