School of Foundation Studies organized Children Protection Seminar
The School of Foundation Studies and ChildSafe Malaysia organized a seminar entitled “ChildSafe: A Seminar for Parents” on 7 September 2019.
In Malaysia, one in every ten children are sexually abused before they reach the age of eighteen and one in four children are physically abused.
“This seminar aims to increase the community awareness on the epidemic rise of child abuse and the online risks such as social media, gaming, screen time and others to children”, said Scott Wong, the facilitator for the seminar. He also shared some proven strategies and solutions to keep children safe.
The seminar brought together 40 people including the Guest of Honor, Professor John Wilson the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Office of Swinburne Sarawak, National Innovation Agency Malaysia (AIM) representatives, Kindergarten representatives, parents, Swinburne staffs and students.
ChildSafe program is a proactive multi-faceted program that empowers communities to work together for the safety and protection of children.
