KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will be holding Open Day events in Sibu and Miri this weekend, offering firsthand insights into the globally-ranked Australian university’s academic programs, scholarships, campus life and more.
The Open Day in Sibu will take place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 12 April 2025, at Tanahmas Hotel, Sibu, whereas the Open Day in Miri will be held from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 13 April 2025, at Pullman Hotel, Miri. Both events are open to the public.
Prospective students and parents are encouraged to take this opportunity to meet directly with Swinburne Sarawak’s education counsellors and academics to explore the broad selection of programs offered by the university across diverse fields – from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts as well as media and education.
Students can also enquire about the university’s two newest programs, the Bachelor of Cyber Security and the Bachelor of Data Science, which are designed to equip the next generation of leaders with skills to drive the digital transformation of Sarawak and beyond.
In addition, visitors can learn about the various scholarships and financial aid opportunities available at Swinburne Sarawak. These include merit-based scholarships offered by the university as well as options from external providers, ensuring a range of possibilities to support students’ educational journeys.
Representatives from Yayasan Sarawak will be present at the Open Days to provide advice and guidance on scholarships, financial aid programs and loans. Visitors can find out more about Yayasan Sarawak’s initiatives, including the BP40 Bursary Scheme and English Enhancement Program (EEP). Through the BP40 Bursary Scheme, Sarawakian Bumiputera students can study at Swinburne Sarawak with tuition fees as affordable as those at public universities in Malaysia. As for the EEP, all Sarawakian students who meet the entry requirements can benefit from this four-week program at no cost, enhancing their English language skills while getting a taste of university life.
At both Open Day events, students and their parents will also have the opportunity to explore other aspects of studying at Swinburne Sarawak, such as its modern facilities, flexible exchange and transfer options, Work Integrated Learning, accommodation options, student experience and more.
The university will be accepting on-the-spot applications at the Open Day, and eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. For application purposes, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).
Swinburne Sarawak’s upcoming intake for its foundation programs begins on 19 May 2025, whereas the upcoming intake for diploma and degree programs commences on 2 September 2025.
