Industry players to speak at Open Day this Saturday

KUCHING – Guest speakers from industry, biotechnology research projects, civil engineering displays, robots, games and prizes are just some of the highlights visitors can look forward to at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Open Day from 10am to 5pm this Saturday (18 December, 2010)

To give parents and their university-going children a broader perspective and make better-informed decision on the choice of courses, guest speakers from the industry will share their experience and knowledge at specially arranged talk sessions.

Swinburne Sarawak academics, meanwhile, will elaborate on the programs offered by the university including the skills students will acquire by the time they graduate.

For more details on programs, entry requirements, application and the like, visitors may direct their queries to the respective booths staffed by academics from the four schools of the university.

Forecast SPM and STPM results will be accepted for course application and students are advised to bring them along.

An application fee will be waived when they apply for a coursed on the day.

A quick aptitude test is available to those who have yet to decide on the course of study. Based on the result of the test, counselors will provide advise on the courses available to them.

For the convenience of parents and students who would like to enquire about study loans and scholarships, a Yayasan Sarawak booth will be available.

Campus tours, which will be conducted by students, will also be available upon request.

On show on the day include Lego robots, a vacuum cleaning robot, civil engineering project models and displays, robotic arm, biotechnology research projects, design/multimedia projects created by students and many more.

Visitors could also win prizes at educational games.

Swinburne Sarawak offers programs in engineering, science, commerce/business, ICT and design in foundation, degree and postgraduate levels. Its programs are identical to those of its home campus in Melbourne, Australia and graduates are awarded the same internationally recognised degree.
