KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus invites those seeking postgraduate qualifications to a preview of its two master’s programs at its Info Day this Saturday, 7 July.
A preview of its new program, the MBA (International), and the Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA (TESOL)), will be held by senior academics from 2pm to 4pm.
Professor Debiprasad Dash will conduct the MBA (International) preview while Associate Professor Wang Su Chen, will speak on the MA (TESOL) program.
Dash and Wang are Heads of the university’s School of Business and Design, and the School of Language and Foundation, respectively.
“The MBA (International) allows you to pursue a managerial career in any industry or sector. It trains you in key managerial functions including financing, marketing, human resource development, operations management, business development, strategic direction, and corporate governance,” said Dash.
Among others, he said, it also develops the student’s capacity to analyse business situations and formulate strategic responses in a global context to enable organisations to survive and grow despite facing challenging circumstances.
The postgraduate program is open to business and non-business graduates.
Meanwhile, the MA (TESOL) program was first offered in September last year, and has had two intakes.
“It is designed for those who have a keen interest in learning and teaching the English language,” said Wang.
“Students will gain a deeper knowledge of the English language; understand TESOL theoretical underpinnings, issues, methodologies and approaches to learning and teaching; develop pedagogical skills of classroom delivery, assessment, and curriculum development; and carry out language research for their professional development as an English language teacher,” she said.
Both the MBA (International) and MA (TESOL) programs can be completed on a full-time or part-time study. Classes will be held in the evenings to accommodate working adults.
Swinburne Sarawak alumni enrolling into the university’s postgraduate programs will be eligible for a 15% bursary on tuition fees.
