Building on its strengths in technology and innovation, Swinburne is at the forefront of preparations for the fourth industrial revolution to create future-ready learners who are highly competent for workplace of the future.

As an international branch campus of Swinburne Melbourne, the Sarawak campus offers course curriculum and assessments that are equivalent and aligned to identical learning outcomes at the Melbourne campus. As a result, students at the Sarawak campus are awarded the same qualifications by the Australian campus upon graduation, which makes it an excellent choice for students to earn an international degree no matter which campus they choose.

Furthermore, not only do students pay their course fees in Malaysian Ringgit, they also have the options to apply for scholarships, bursaries and external study loans, or pay their tuition fees over ten interest-free instalments annually. The recently introduced BP40 Bursary Scheme in collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak gives opportunity to Bumiputera Sarawakian students to study at Swinburne at a subsidised cost with fees as low as most public universities in Malaysia. Places are limited to the first 100 students.

Swinburne’s Sarawak campus offers a wide range of programmes at Foundation, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Among the programmes offered are Foundation Studies in Business, Design, Information Technology/Multimedia, and Engineering/Science, and Diploma of Business Management.

For Undergraduate degrees, students can choose from programmes such as Bachelor of Business in Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management, Marketing, and Human Resource Management; or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Robotics and Mechatronics, and Electrical and Electronic.

Other programmes include Bachelor of Computer Science with a major in Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Software Development, and Data Science; Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology with a major in Network Technology, and Software Development; Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology); Bachelor of Design in Multimedia Design; and the new Bachelor of Design with a major in Graphic Design.

The new Graphic Design programme was introduced in October 2019 to align with the digital economy goals and boosting the creative economy of Sarawak state. Recognised as having one of the best design schools in the world, Swinburne is ranked Top 40 for Art and Design by the 2018 QS World Rankings of Universities by Subject. In the past, Swinburne’s design graduates had participated and won prizes at national and international events including the Microsoft Imagine Cup world finals in Seattle, Washington, USA.

Offering an exceptional education experience through its partnerships with the industry, community, and government, students are able to strengthen their real-world skills by contributing to workplaces and enhancing their employability. Consequently, the university is recognised as the Top 10 Preferred Private University in Malaysia by JobStreet.com. Its Graduate Employability Rate consistently tops 94% as Swinburne graduates are well-positioned to start their career after completing their studies.

With a population of 3,500 students from over 45 countries, Swinburne’s culturally diverse community provides a priceless advantage to students to interact with a global cohort.
