KUCHING – Prospective students seeking to pursue higher education are encouraged to visit Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Open Day events in Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu this weekend to discover all that the Australian university has to offer.
The Open Day in Bintulu will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 19 April 2025, at Promenade Hotel, Bintulu, followed by the Kota Kinabalu Open Day from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 20 April 2025, at Hyatt Regency, Kota Kinabalu. All members of the public are welcome.
Both Open Day events are great opportunities for students and parents to meet one-on-one with Swinburne Sarawak’s education counsellors and academic staff to address any enquiries they may have, from programs to scholarships, pathways and more.
Students will have the chance to explore the diverse range of programs offered by the university, spanning fields such as business, computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media and education. By gaining a deeper insight into these areas of study, they will be better equipped to make informed decisions that align with their career aspirations and interests.
Visitors can also find out more about the university’s two newest programs, the Bachelor of Cyber Security and the Bachelor of Data Science, which are designed to equip the next generation of leaders with skills to drive the digital transformation of Sarawak and beyond.
Swinburne Sarawak offers a comprehensive selection of scholarships and financial aid to suit a variety of needs and help make higher education more accessible. At both Open Day events, students and parents can learn more about these options, which include university-awarded merit-based scholarships and funding from external providers.
Representatives from Yayasan Sarawak will be attending the Bintulu Open Day to provide advice and guidance on scholarships, financial aid and loans. Visitors can discover more about Yayasan Sarawak’s initiatives, such as the BP40 Bursary Scheme and English Enhancement Program (EEP). The BP40 Bursary Scheme enables Sarawakian Bumiputera students to pursue their studies at Swinburne Sarawak with tuition fees comparable to those at public universities in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the EEP offers a four-week, zero-cost program for all eligible Sarawakian students, helping them strengthen their English language skills while experiencing university life firsthand.
During both Open Day events, student and parents will have the chance to explore other key aspects of the Swinburne Sarawak experience, from modern facilities and Work Integrated Learning to the vibrant student life and flexible exchange and transfer opportunities.
The university will be accepting on-the-spot applications at the Open Day, and eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. For application purposes, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).
The upcoming intake for Swinburne Sarawak’s foundation programs starts on 19 May 2025, whereas its upcoming intake for diploma and degree programs will begin on 2 September 2025.
