Swinburne’s Diploma of Early Childhood Education to unlock potential in teachers

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus is offering preschool teachers the Diploma of Early Childhood Education program.

This is in line with the Sarawak Government’s objective to ensure all early childhood educators possess the necessary qualification that helps make a difference in a child’s education.

Ir Professor Lau Hieng Ho, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Swinburne Sarawak, said that the university acknowledges Yayasan Sarawak’s emphasis on quality education and the need for talent in this area.

“Teachers need to be prepared with the knowledge and practical skills to nurture young children. The diploma will also equip students with soft skills and pedagogy of care and compassion,” he said.

The program, which can be completed in as little as 2.5 years, will include a six-week practicum. Students who complete the diploma can choose to pursue an undergraduate education degree. SPM students who want a career in early childhood education as well as preschool operators can also enrol in the program.
