Jaka Sunarso is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Science and the Director of the Research Centre for Sustainable Technologies at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus in Malaysia.
Jaka is registered as a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Energy Engineer of the Energy Institute, United Kingdom. He received his B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Indonesia in 2004 and then his M.E. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland in Australia in 2006 and 2010, respectively.
He was awarded an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to do postdoctoral training at Deakin University in Australia between 2011 and 2013. He then secured a Banting Fellowship for his 2nd postdoctoral training at the University of Waterloo in Canada between 2013 and 2015.
His main research interests are batteries, fuel cells, membranes, and biomass conversion to fuels and value-added products.
Jaka has published more than 190 journal articles in the Chemical Engineering and Materials Science field, with total citations of 9220 and an h-index of 46.
He has actively supervised 11 Ph.D. and 7 Master’s students.
