Life After SPM: 5 Easy Steps To Get Your Australian Education

By P Michael

Congratulations!

You’ve made it through the SPM examinations and now, what’s next?

Some of you are having a much-needed break while some are ready for the next hurdle in education. For those who’re ready for the next big adventure, you probably have so many questions and are unsure of where to start. So, let’s start with…

1. Program of Study

Start by deciding on the program you want to study.  Pick a program you’re interested in, something you know you are good at and one that could help you achieve the career you aim to get. Studying something you’re passionate about and already have knowledge in will keep you engaged throughout your university journey.

Still feeling overwhelmed and lost even after all these discoveries? Then why not have a chat with your parents or friends about this? Or better yet, share your concern with us via email study@swinburne.edu.my. We’ll be happy to help with any enquiry.

2. Your Education Pathway Options

Students who have completed their SPM exams can enrol into either the Swinburne Foundation Studies or into one of our many diploma programs.

Foundation programs: The Swinburne Foundation Studies, an introductory program that supports your pathway into an undergraduate degree, offers subjects related to your choice of bachelor’s degree. Foundation Studies can be completed within one year.

Diploma programs: You may want to consider our diploma programs if you plan to enter the workforce soon after graduation. Our diploma programs, which are for 2.5 years, provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in the workplace. A diploma can also lead to various opportunities for further studies.

3. Public or Private University?

Let’s be real. We are biased towards Swinburne Sarawak, and there is no reason not to be. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredits our Business school, placing us among the top 5% of Business schools globally.

Moreover, Swinburne is the ONLY university in Malaysia, to offer all students access to the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite throughout their time with us, for free!

4. Scholarship and Financial Assistance

You are eligible to apply for any of the scholarships and bursaries offered by Swinburne Sarawak, if you meet our academic requirements and stipulated terms. Besides the academic criteria, you will also be evaluated based on your financial needs, and may be eligible for the BP40 Bursary Scheme.

If you have already enrolled and do not qualify for any of the above, don’t worry! You can pay your tuition fees in 10 interest-free installments annually. That’s how cool we are!

5. Do you offer…

Law? Cybersecurity? Gaming? Yes!

When you enrol, we will offer you the Swinburne Sarawak program that you applied for, along with a conditional offer for a Swinburne Melbourne program that you may be interested in graduating from. This is what we call our ‘next gen_degree’.

If you would like to learn more, talk to us!

Ready for your next adventure?

To apply to Swinburne, you must complete the online application form. Before you begin, we would suggest that you reach out to our Student Recruitment team through WhatsApp and they can guide you on the required documents and processes.

If you encounter any difficulties during the application process, they can advise you on your next steps.
