Exam conduct

Refers to expected behaviours and protocols that students should adhere during an exam. This includes guidelines on preparation, punctuality, and general behaviour during the exam.

Exam conduct

Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus takes exams very seriously. All irregularities or instances of examination misconduct will be investigated. Where necessary, a formal examination and assessment discipline panel will be convened and penalties imposed if warranted.

Arrive early so you have plenty of time find your room and seat and get prepared. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, you will not be able to sit the exam.

Once the exam starts you will not be able to leave the room in the first 30 minutes or the last 15 minutes. Toilet breaks are allowed and will be monitored by staff.

When apparent misconduct is observed in an examination room, the student will be permitted to finish the exam paper, although any material which is believed to be unauthorised will be confiscated as soon as it is detected.

You may be refused entry to, or expelled from, the examination room if you fail to give the examination supervisor something which the supervisor believes may be unauthorised, or which the supervisor has confiscated or attempted to confiscate.

Any apparent misconduct during an examination will be formally reported to the examination officer, who will record the incident and send a warning letter or initiate an investigation.

Penalties

If an investigation reveals reasonable evidence that a student has engaged in academic misconduct, the penalties are severe and can include cancellation of results and exclusion from the course. Possible sanctions for academic misconduct are detailed in the Student Academic Misconduct Regulations 2012.
